Colossians 1:24-29

I have had a hard time fighting against the cold and then the flu this past week. Actually it’s been more than a week, but I do believe I am ready to the season to pass. At least spring is in the air and that means warmer weather. Please pray for us as we try to get working on a website we are working on getting up. It’s been a struggle, but hopefully will have it going soon. I hope you are doing well this week.

In Him,
David

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions.
Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,
that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

Colossians 1:24-29

Paul spoke of suffering and affliction many times throughout his letters. It is a heavy theme in the New Testament because it was such a reality for the people during that time. Paul write during great Roman persecution and in the days when Christians were killed daily in hideous ways. This is a part of the Christian life that is not talked about too much, most of us would rather ignore it all together. But the same thing goes on in our world today and soon enough will in our own country.

As a minister of God’s word, Paul carried out the greatest task any of us could have. We all in fact do have the same duty, to share the love of God to all people around us. This is a world where far too many people hear messages of hate, and too few of forgiveness. How could the world seek the Lord God, unless the messengers of the Lord are seek Him? Paul preaches the greatest thing of all and that is the mystery of the Church.

No where do we see mention of the Church before Jesus came and began preaching. The greatest mystery unveiled is that of the gentiles being saved and being brought into the family of God. We need to remember the roots of our faith are in our Jewish ancestors, those who kept the Word of the Lord sacred for thousands of years. It was during the days of Peter and Paul when the truth of God’s universal message came into play.

Every single Christian then has the divine calling and purpose in life to spread the message of God’s glory all over the world. We must making a living out of making Christ known to all people. This all begins in us first as we daily need to invite the Spirit into our day and find out what he wants to do inside of our hearts. It is there that we begin to do mighty works.
