Colossians 3:17

Avery is sick with some nasty bug, the doctor says her immune system is pretty much down for the rest of the year which wont be good for her. But at least she is a tough little girl. She also loves watching both Dancing with the Stars and Hannah Montana on Disney. Put those two together and im sure you know who ill be voting for :) Anyway lets get to the verse for today.

----------------------------------------------
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:17

Do all things according to the One who calls us by His Name. We are to live remembering that when we talk and when we act the very things we say and do are reflecting our Lord. He is in our hearts and when we were saved our image changed and now we are in His image. So now all things should be done in His name.

Our lives are to be an example to the world that there is an answer to pain and suffering. There is a hope and a life that can be found. He freely gives us grace and forgiveness. He shows us love and kindness. He also shows us discipline. We are never going to be able to fully reflect Him in all fullness, but there is a call to do so anyway. In all things we should show the world who He is, because this world does not really know Him.

Colossians 3:16

May is next week but it still feels like March outside, not sure what that is all about. But maybe soon it will warm up a little more. Pray for our little one she has a stomach bug, which came right after she went back to day care after a two week vacation from it. How i wish we could find someone who could watch her at home. Thank you for those prayers my friend.

David

-------------------------------------
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16

First the peace of Christ, and now the Word of Christ is to dwell inside of us. Is this the word meaning the whole counsel of God with all of His laws and promises? Maybe the Word refers to Christ Himself as he is referenced in John’s gospel. Paul shows us that all of this is true as well as wisdom, teaching, and songs.

Want some real theology and profound insight into who God is? Read the Psalms with Christ in view and you will get some amazing surprises. The books of Moses give us wisdom and laws to make us better people and show what the Lord commands of His own. The entire Bible is full of all those things, but also it is filled from start to finish with worship music.

Have you tried to watch a movie without the sound? Try watching a film without any background music at all. It would be pretty boring alright. The reason for this is that life is found in music and singing. This is why we always find new songs to sing and new artists to write more. Not just Christians, but the entire human race knows the value of a good song to lift up your spirit and express your heart. The Word fills you with music to be sung to the King. Even if you don’t think you can sing, then sing in your heart because the Lord knows all things and can hear even the sound of your heartbeat. Read His word, let it fill you up with fullness and richness of His glory.

Colossians 3:15

Avery got her two front teeth for Easter this year. She is doing a lot better and I hear little Maggie is doing good as well. Keep praying for Maggie though as I know there is a lot ahead for them. Thank you for those prayers and I hope all is well with you and your family.

David

---------------------------------------------------
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Colossians 3:15

Remember when Jesus told the thunderstorm to be silent? Remember when he spoke the name of Lazarus to a dead man’s tomb and out came life? I believe the peace the Lord wants for His children is more than just the absence of war and turmoil. There is so much more to the things our Lord says anyway, wouldn’t you imagine peace would be the same.

Our hearts are tricky things my friend. You see they carry with them a lifetime of emotions, experiences, and elements that make us who we are. I am sure there is more to the heart then too. It is in the mass of chaos of life that Jesus speaks peace. This is not meant a temporary solution but a permanent change. This is a peace that he speaks into our life every day.

As one body we are called to this peace that only the Lord can give. We are not meant to be a split up denominational class of people who never seem to agree on anything. As one created being we are to live with the peace of our Lord. Maybe though living in that peace we can change the world, as I know the world needs all the peace He can give.

Warm air and sunshine! I love being able to enjoy the warm outdoor air, even if there are a few thunderstorms on the horizon, its still wonderful being out of the cold season. Avery went back to day care this morning and has a new teacher there, hopefully she gets along well with everything. She had it nice for two weeks at home with family, we enjoyed her being at home too. But for now we are just not able to keep her at home. I do look forward to tuesday though since that is daddy day and we can enjoy ourselves. Hopefully it doesnt rain to much though, i would like to get out some.

April is almost over already and it seems like it just began. May will be here next along with Mothers day and Holly gets to enjoy her first :), at least i get my own Fathers day in June along with that. Avery is enjoying her food and milk and still working on being her little baby self.

HAPPY SIX MONTHS AVERY!!!!!!!!! Our little girl is growing up so fast.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

April has been a busy month for all of here in baby land. Of course Easter came and went pretty well. We had our Sunday morning service and then went to Mema’s house for some egg hunting. Daddy had a lot of fun carrying the princess around the yard getting as many eggs as possible. Of course the prizes were for the older kids mostly but she still got a few, including a slinky shaped like a bunny which she loves playing with.

Saturday before Easter we discovered our little Avery was getting her first tooth, which we could see and feel. Shortly after a second one next to it appeared, they are both on the bottom front of her mouth. So now she is a little chomper with quite teeth. She has had to stay home the last couple weeks though as she managed to catch RSV which is never good. She is resting at home and doing much better. Its amazing to see how much she has grown, now on the heals of her sixth month birthday. She is playing around with her toys, rattles and other fun things. Everything of course goes in the mouth and there is a lot of drool to go around. We are still working on getting through the night, but she is going pretty good with that.

Other wise all seems to be going pretty quick around here. Daddy has been home this week sick as well with some pneumonia. So the two of us are working on getting that battled out. Anyway we do have a new web site up Jon and I are working on. Familyoftheking.net. Go check it out when you can. Thats all for now, got to get ready for dinner.

Colossians 3:14

Good day my friend. I have pneumonia this week and am staying at home resting at least until Thursday. Hopefully by then I will be feeling better since the doctor said I needed to rest for a few days. So Avery and I are doing our best to get all the rest we need as she gets back to her young wild self. She has two bottom teeth coming through now, so cute. She's been smacking her lips a lot too. We need to teach her how to go forward in her walker, she’s got the backward thing down though.
Keep praying. Thank you

David

--------------------------------------
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:14

Love has always taken a life of its own for as long as I can remember. It creates something which is always beautiful, and brings things together in wondrous ways. We know about it, we study and discover all we can about it, and more important try to experience it as much as we can. But can we every truly grab hold of the love the Bible talks about?

Paul uses love when talking in Corinthians about spiritual gifts. In the middle of describing the gifts he reminds us that without love there is nothing. Love is displayed throughout the events of the Bible and the ultimate display is of course the cross where Jesus poured out his life blood for us. His love was the sacrificial love. We also know love is kind, patience, never holding bitterness and so forth. Even when we begin to master just a little piece of it, we fall short of the whole thing.

It is when we learn more closely what love is that we can appreciate more of God’s nature and attitude toward us. If you substitute the name of Christ for love, it fits every time. Jesus is kind, Jesus is patient, Jesus is long-suffering. It is with that love He holds us and all the body together. Without love there is no peace, no harmony. But we must seek Him to understand how to love and how to live in His love.

Colossians 3:13-14

Winter just doesn’t seem to want to let go around here does it? I’ve still got a cold, Avery is still sick but getting better. Keep praying for Maggie, things are going good so far with her. Thank you for all your prayers and keep them coming.

David

----------------------------------------------
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Colossians 3:13-14

Take it upon yourself just as a hiker picks up his gear, to live a life of forgiveness toward others. It is through the action of letting go that we allow our own walks to get easier because we no longer carry the weight of others wrongs toward us or others. Now this is simple to say and hard to live by, but if we do not find a way there is more trouble than we need to have.

We can only do so much in this world to please people and make things happen the way we think they should. There is only so much ability we have to convince people of the truth and lead them into the light. Most often the worst nature of man comes out and reigns even when we do our best to stop it from coming.

The sooner we learn to forgive the sooner we will feel forgiven of our own wrongs and deeds. Even more we won’t blame ourselves when those close to us make mistakes that cost them love and life. We can stop accusing our own hearts for not doing more and realizing everyone has responsibility for their own choice. Just as we have the choice to love and forgive.

Colossians 3:11-12

Easter has come and gone and He is risen indeed! Seems like we all got sick this weekend though. I have a stomach bug, Holly and her mom do as well. Please pray hard for Hollys cousin. She just had a baby girl a week or so ago and the girl is very sick. She has some major heart problems they have to do surgery on her. Also pray for Avery, she has caught some RSV virus and is going to have to take it easy at home for a few weeks. Pray we find some people who can come alongside and help us out. Thank you for your prayers my friend and be blesses this week.

David

-------------------------------------------------
In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Colossians 3:11-12

God has called us to be a holy people. We are a people that goes beyond race and nationality because the Lord has pulled us from all over the world. Our family consists of all kinds, and we all have the same unity in Christ. He loves us and we must also share that love with the world. No matter where we travel in this world there will always be people who seek Him, from every nation, tribe, and tongue. One day this whole world will be filled with nothing but His people. One day He will reign from His throne in Jerusalem. What a day that will be!

Colossians 3:8-10

When i left work yesterday it was raining just a little, but by the time i got home it was down pouring snow! Snow? I couldn't believe it. Now the first day off i get in a long time with my wife and daughter together and we have to sit on the couch with hot coco wondering was it really 90 degrees a few days ago. Seriously could not believe that. Of course its all slick and water now, but amazing to see come down. Though i would prefer for it to warm up now. Have a good Friday my friend and good Resurrection day!

David

-------------------------------------------------------
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him

Colossians 3:8-10

I often find it amazing how powerful words really are. Every thing that comes out of our mouth has the ability to either bring life or death for other people or even nations. Right down to the small words of a child, we are held captive. The Bible speaks of the Word of God as power for this very reason, for it speaks into our souls to bring life everlasting.

Man has the greatest weapon every conceived, and has had it since the beginning of time. The tongue is this powerful device because it gives us the ability to communicate. And when there is communication there is also community and relationship that can be formed. We can lift up people with words of encouragement and strength. We can also spread knowledge and wisdom to others. Someone’s eternal soul may rest on your tongue telling them about Jesus.

With all the good our mouth can do for the world, the sinful nature reminds us how horrible it can be at the same time. Not a day goes by where there is not a word spoken you would like to take back. Maybe a simple word of anger, or a dangerous word of deceit. All of these things are used for destruction. Paul makes it clear that we are not of the flesh anymore and should not allow ourselves to be captive by such words. Our Lord has created us with a new life in His own image. Watch the words you say for you are held accountable to such things you speak. For no matter who you are, or where you are from, your words are just as powerful as anyone else.

Last night while we were giving our little girl a bath she did the most amazing thing. She just sat there in her tub and threw her arms down into the water. She did it again and again splashing her mommy and me. We just watched with awe at our little one as this is the first time she really started splashing us. I love watching these milestones in our Avery. She was just splashing away and enjoying herself. Oh what fun. Cant wait to see what is next with her. I am sure with Easter weekend coming there will be some more pics and fun in store. We do know it will be cold so she will be bundled up a bit. I dont know where this cold front came from, but i hope it doesnt last long. I like it warm, though i know she doesnt. Its important to keep cool in the heat of the day and summer.

Colossians 3:13

Your prayers are strong my friend, please continue them. Avery has been avoiding the fluids her body needs. She is such a strong little girl but it know she is so sick it’s hard for her. Please pray hard. Also keep praying for Maggi, I know she is doing ok now, and will keep needing prayer. I hope you are doing well yourself.
Blessings,
David

--------------------------------------------
Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

Colossians 3:13

Forgiveness is a word tossed around all too easily when it has to do with Christ’s action upon us. Why is the same word so hard to swallow when it is someone else who is the recipient? Just think for a moment about the word and what it means to you, what it brings to your mind when you hear it. Actually it is a rather difficult task to forgive, event more to forgive those who hurt you.

Giving of ourselves as a sacrifice unto Christ, just as He gave Himself to us includes letting go of all negative feelings and attitudes toward others. It means that no matter how much they hurt you, they are still forgiven themselves. None of us deserved the death of Jesus to forgive us of our sins. Sorry, not one of us alive now or in history has ever been worthy of it. But He gave it, knowing full well that for the better part of 2000 years His name would be mocked, ridiculed, and hated. He forgave those who would never seek Him. It is from that context we must forgive.

Please do not take from this that we should be able and willing to forgive at the drop of a hat. Even Jesus spent time in prayer before the cross asking the Father about such things. It is not an easy task. Anymore then was it for the King of the Universe to face public and historical mockery and death. No forgiving someone is not something we should do because Jesus forgave us. It is something we have to do, because He saved us.

Colossians 3:5-7

We approach the weekend where we remember our Lord's death and resurrection. What a time that is beloved. I praise Him for that. I encourage you to get into the Word this week and read with all your heart. Seek His voice, for He is ready to hear from you.

Blessings to you

David

Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.

Colossians 3:5-7

Idolatry always seems to follow with a picture of a man bowing down to a large piece of wood. But the Bible calls anything that is put in place of the worship of our Lord, idolatry. This is anytime we put ourselves first as well as anyone else. Paul lists the acts of the flesh, those things we did in our own lives before we became members of Christ’s body.

We celebrate all kinds of the worst sins in pretty much any show on prime time television. This is not to say we consider them good thankfully. But I say this as an example to the depth of man’s ability to be impure and immoral. Think of all the story lines that have to be built around the sinful nature of man. None of the shows would even work without that.

Now as new creatures in Christ as are to have no part in the evil nature we once lived in. Hopefully most of us do not know the depth of darkness that can be found. But for those who have, I want to encourage you in that there is no pit that Jesus cannot rescue you from. He died before you were even born, knowing you would fall, so that he could forgive your sins and bring you life. Praise Him for that, and walk in the light.

We tried squash yesterday, not so sure about this new taste. I think she liked the sweet potatos the best so far. But we keep working on it, and of course keep working on sitting up which is going pretty well so far. Our little angel just has the best camera face. She loves to smile and laugh.

One thing we are going to start next week is to get into the Word more as a family. I felt that is important since Avery needs a good foundation to stand on. We will begin with Genesis 1-2 doing the precept upon precept study. Should be good for us as well.

Today is Palm Sunday and next Sunday will be Avery's first easter. I cant believe how the time goes by so fast. I look forward to watching our little one grow and seek to know the Lord more. Now i best be off to take care of our little one and get her ready for Church. She is sitting here admiring her picture and wondering when daddy is going to let her play on the computer.

Colossians 3:1-4

Today we celebrate the entry of our Lord into Jerusalem. He rode in presenting Himself to Israel just as the lamb is brought before the people before the sacrifice. I suggest reading the story of the triumphal entry and thinking about how it applies to your life.

-David

---------------------------------------------------------
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Colossians 3:1-4

What are you seeking in this world my friend? And where do your thoughts remain? They say your heart is where your money is. Your mind is also where your heart can be found. Our Lord examines each heart and knows the ones which are seeking after Him. It’s so easy in this world to get caught up in earthly things and ideas. But we must remember all of that is part of the old life that was lived before Christ.

Spend some time just thinking about what you are doing with your time and your life. None of us have truly been promised a tomorrow, but we all live like we can put everything off until then. The Lord wants us to think in the now and focus on how we can live. Pray for wisdom and seek to find out what He is doing now, and how he wants you to serve Him in the present.

All of our walks will be revealed someday when Christ returns in His glory. Your prayers, your service, your relationship will all be made known. Our minds focus should be on building up the glory of the Lord, not searching for earthly glory. When we seek Him first above all things, we will find life. The old is dead and buried with Him, the new life we have is with Christ in God.
