Colossians 3:8-10

When i left work yesterday it was raining just a little, but by the time i got home it was down pouring snow! Snow? I couldn't believe it. Now the first day off i get in a long time with my wife and daughter together and we have to sit on the couch with hot coco wondering was it really 90 degrees a few days ago. Seriously could not believe that. Of course its all slick and water now, but amazing to see come down. Though i would prefer for it to warm up now. Have a good Friday my friend and good Resurrection day!

-------------------------------------------------------
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him

Colossians 3:8-10

I often find it amazing how powerful words really are. Every thing that comes out of our mouth has the ability to either bring life or death for other people or even nations. Right down to the small words of a child, we are held captive. The Bible speaks of the Word of God as power for this very reason, for it speaks into our souls to bring life everlasting.

Man has the greatest weapon every conceived, and has had it since the beginning of time. The tongue is this powerful device because it gives us the ability to communicate. And when there is communication there is also community and relationship that can be formed. We can lift up people with words of encouragement and strength. We can also spread knowledge and wisdom to others. Someone’s eternal soul may rest on your tongue telling them about Jesus.

With all the good our mouth can do for the world, the sinful nature reminds us how horrible it can be at the same time. Not a day goes by where there is not a word spoken you would like to take back. Maybe a simple word of anger, or a dangerous word of deceit. All of these things are used for destruction. Paul makes it clear that we are not of the flesh anymore and should not allow ourselves to be captive by such words. Our Lord has created us with a new life in His own image. Watch the words you say for you are held accountable to such things you speak. For no matter who you are, or where you are from, your words are just as powerful as anyone else.
