Haggai 1:2-6

Life is busy this June, at least seems to be for us. Last weekend we had a wedding to drive to, this weekend my dad will be coming out for a conference. Avery loves that idea, since her grandpa will be here. She is learning how to army crawl now so she can get from one point to another to go after stuff. Means we have some baby proofing to work on. Also today is our Four year anniversary of marriage! What a wonderful marriage as well. Hope you have a good day and weekend coming my friend.

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: The people are saying, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.’” Then the Lord sent this message through the prophet Haggai: “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!

Haggai 1:2-6

Our Lord in the New Testament continues to call our own bodies the temple of the Lord. Keeping this in mind while reading Haggai is important, because it shows us how important the temple is. When the people were neglecting the House of God, they were setting aside all of the things that would bring them life. In the same way when we put our Lord on the shelf and concentrate on our own ways to make us happy, we only end in ruin.

The very structure of the Temple is a model of our own spiritual and physical being. It has been said that the heart, soul, mind, and strength are all laid out in the plan of the Temple. Since the Holy Spirit gave Solomon the wisdom on how to build and what to build, it should be no surprise if it means more than meets the eye.

We take care of so much in life to make life work. But the Lord wants us to work on our relationship with Him first and only. When we draw near to Him and work on our maturity, then we grow and build up the temple that we are; the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells. It is through Him and in Him we find life.
