Ruth 3:12-18

"Now it is true I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I.
"Remain this night, and when morning comes, if he will redeem you, good; let him redeem you. But if he does not wish to redeem you, then I will redeem you, as the LORD lives. Lie down until morning."
So she lay at his feet until morning and rose before one could recognize another; and he said, " Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor."
Again he said, "Give me the cloak that is on you and hold it." So she held it, and he measured six measures of barley and laid it on her. Then she went into the city.
When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, "How did it go, my daughter?" And she told her all that the man had done for her.
She said, "These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said, 'Do not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed.'"
Then she said, "Wait, my daughter, until you know how the matter turns out; for the man will not rest until he has settled it today."
Ruth 3:12-18

The story of Ruth is far more than the story of Boaz falling in love with Ruth and redeeming her along with the land. It is also a story of our relationship to Jesus and His redemption of us.
During those days land sold into the family must be redeemed by someone also in the line and family. Boaz was a close relative to Naomi and Ruth but had to first get past the closer relative. But Boaz loved Ruth so much that he did everything He could in order to get her. But first Ruth had to ask for it. She asked by going to his feet in the night just as a servant would do waiting for orders. Boaz gave her six measures of barley which is one less than seven- seven being complete. Naomi explained why he did this, as a way to show Boaz would not rest till the redemption was finished.
Indeed Jesus Christ, Son of David, a man, God in the flesh, came to earth to redeem us. He did this out of His love for us and in order to receive the free gift we must ask for it. Many have already done this. But we need to realize that we are daily being redeemed by Him. Each new day in Christian life we are becoming more and more like Him. It is not a quick process, but one that takes throughout our life to do. But He is faithful and will finish what He has set out to do! And that is to make you more like Him.
