Genesis 3:21

I always enjoy weekends but have trouble with the sleeping in part. That never works for me. For that matter I have more energy on my days off work then when I have to go to work. I guess that's normal though. Anyway keep praying for the believers around the world and us my friend. Have a good weekend

“Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.”
Genesis 3:21

A common phrase in our culture is that the clothes make the man. Indeed it’s always important what you put in every day as you are representing yourself to everyone you meet. When they see you dressed well, with ironed shirt and well-trimmed pants there is much respect that follows. Even more dress also is important in our work places where people except to see what we care about how we look. But the clothes that the Lord gives are very different then our earthly attire.

Adam and Eve may very well have watched as God killed the animals and created the clothes for his children. He had seen them sin and now he was providing a covering for their nakedness. But these were just plain clothes of skin, nothing exceptional or beautiful in them. The Lord showed them and us that no matter what we put on the outside the inner quality will be more important. Jesus reminds us of that when talking about the attitudes of the heart making one clean.

We also know through the sacrifice of blood we have covering of sin. Though Adam and Eve fell into sin, the Lord was there to provide a way to be recovered. But they did not return to whatever state they had before where they walked in His presence in a way we may never know. Rather we are left in our sin, covered by His blood, with the daily moment by moment choice to choose to live with His life flowing through and out of us.
