John 17:12

There is so much to be said for the freedom we have in America to speak out about whatever we feel. Let’s not take for granite that we can even share the Word so publicly. We have freedom in our Lord as well, because we are secure in Him. Not freedom to do whatever we please, but to do what pleases Him. Have a great fourth of July my friend.

---------------------------------------------------------
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:12

A lot of people have questions about this passage because it almost seems like it contradicts Jesus’ ability to keep us secure. Actually if we pour into the text and see what it is saying there is a great deal here that continues the same flow of the prayer and truth of our security.

Judas never deceived our Lord, nor was there any surprise that he would be the betrayer. Jesus knew what was going to come and was fully prepared for this. But still there was warnings throughout the ministry where Jesus would point out to Judas what was to come. This scripture is showing us that Judas himself was never one of the secured disciples in the first place. He was lost, but was simply never one of the others to begin with.

Our security once again is found in the faith we have in our Savior which makes us a disciple of Him. Nothing gets snuck by our Lord and we cannot hide from His face. He always sees us and knows what we are up to at all times. He planned from the beginning all things, and even shared His life with those he knew would betray him. That is love my friend. The kind of love we all need to know.
