John 17:17-19

Another week has passed and we press into the weekend. Still more to do, but that is good. Avery is enjoying her swim class and getting used to being in the water. Not sure she will like it when we dunk her for the first time this coming week, we shall see. I look forward to seeing how that goes.

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
John 17:17-19

We know that the Lord is clear on separating what is holy and pure. One of the first things he made sure Moses told the people was that He is a Holy God. King David often wrote in the Psalms of the Word of God also being holy and pure. God’s word is sanctified, or set apart from the things of this world. It is truth and it is what we are to live on and walk by.

The Bible does not just contain the truth, it is the truth. The moment we as mere men try to pick out scriptures that we don’t really think are inspired, we destroy ourselves for believe a lie. We also cannot add to the Holy Scriptures any other message from men or from angels because this is the one that has been set apart by the Spirit. It comes to us through men and women of God who were led by the Spirit, and many of whom saw Christ. 

We call this Word of God the truth because that is what it is. This is truth that sets us free. Truth that gives life. We can have no greater goal in this life then to search out the Word, dive deep into the message and seek all that we can. The Spirit leads us with the Word, and it is through the Truth we find salvation.
