John 17:13

Maybe it will stay dry enough now we can get to mowing some of our lawn. Of course there is a lot of it and I admit we need a smaller yard next time around. But at least it is the weekend. I hope you enjoyed your fourth of July. Now we press on into the summer. I pray the Lord will give you all joy in Him.

------------------------------------------
But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.
John 17:13

Joy is always one of those things we talk about wanting to have, and we wish it upon people as a song during the holidays. Sometimes it seems like an unattainable desire we long to have. We might all have our own definitions for what joy would feel like or is like, but nothing could be greater than that joy which comes from Jesus.

Jesus prayed that we would have the joy he has even now. This was a prayer for something we would be able to experience during every day of our life. It’s a fulfilling knowledge of the Lord God and His power working through your circumstances. Christians then should be joyful always knowing the Lord is in them and living with them.

Joy is not being happy all the time or putting on a smile whenever you have to; remember Jesus wept. If the Lord can have emotion then we are fully able to as well. But joy as Jesus had it is not something we can even lightly grab hold of here, or even with hours of study. It’s more of something we need to pray to be willing to accept. You see the joy is always there for the taking, we just have to say yes.
