Psalm 4

My friend has returned from Moldova and doing the Lord's work there. Continue praying for their team now as they get back and continue to keep focused on all the Lord has for them. Your prayers mean so much my friend, for my family and me. I appreciate them greatly.

Psalm 4
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

  Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
        You have relieved me in my distress;
        Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

  How long, O you sons of men,
        Will you turn my glory to shame?
        How long will you love worthlessness
        And seek falsehood?  Selah
  But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly;
        The LORD will hear when I call to Him.

David writes this Psalm with both God’s righteousness and mercy in view. Not only is David seeking a Holy and Just God, there is also the desire for kindness to be shown to him in all his ways. Mercy is not getting what we deserve, so it comes into play many times in our prayers though we do not always realize its work.

We are praying to a God who is perfect and good, who is awesome in all He does. The whole world seems to be going against Him, and against those who love Him. Our God knows His own and loved them. We also share in the glory of the Lord through Jesus Christ our Lord, who died so that we might have life.

Our world rejects Christ and always will. It should be no surprise that we as followers of Christ will also be hated. What we stand for goes against the world’s views, and our message is a stumbling block for many. It’s good while preaching the message of a righteous God who hates sin, to also remember his mercy. For we are saved by grace and forgiven with mercy, this is the banner we pray under and should be the message we live.
