Psalm 6

We know the Lord is always with us. Pray for peace and help in our jobs as we both need it. Also pray for my parents as they travel out here on the road to visit. I can't wait for them to see Avery, she is just so much fun! She grows so quickly, hard to believe I need to get her birthday invites out pretty soon.

Psalm 6
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David.

O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
        Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak;
        O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
My soul also is greatly troubled;
        But You, O LORD—how long?

Return, O LORD, deliver me!
        Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
For in death there is no remembrance of You;
        In the grave who will give You thanks?

I am weary with my groaning;
        All night I make my bed swim;
        I drench my couch with my tears.
My eye wastes away because of grief;
        It grows old because of all my enemies.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
        For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
The LORD has heard my supplication;
        The LORD will receive my prayer.
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
        Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm six reveals more of David’s heart has he cries out to the Lord with pain and frustration. It is okay for believers in the Lord to be upset and show emotion. But we must turn those feelings into God immediately. We cannot change anything without the Lord’s help. Aren’t we glad that He is in our good times as well as our struggles? If you are going to go through a struggle, wouldn’t it be better for the Lord to have His hand in it. We do not have to understand this, just trust Him.
Here David is despairing because his body is weak and he is under much grief. This is a man of God who is known as the greatest King of Israel as well as a man after God’s heart. Here he cries out to God in despair and the Lord hears it. The Psalm ends with the Lord hearing David and David declaring that all his enemies will be turned away. Our Lord delivers both mercy and justice in the right time. Always the best time, even if it is not our time table He moves from.
Be comforted from this message. Remember God is with you in every moment of your life, good and bad. Hope in Him. This world won’t give you any lasting hope, and nothing it offers will amount to anything. Only in the Lord is there hope for our lives. The great escape.
